![]() In the early days I was quite ignorant of torrent IP leaks and the many ways your true IP can be exposed, until a few DMCA's myself. I'm answering just because you said you have no idea what happened - and of course to benefit any others reading this. I have no idea what's going to happen to my internet account if this keep happening. All I know is something happened, which caused me to acquire nine copyright warnings in one day. I need to feel confident that qBit isn't what's messing up right now and honestly even though I can't replicate the dual IP issue, I do not feel confident.Īt this point I honestly have zero idea as to what happened. I'm going to keep testing like I have been all day to see if I can get a result. Shouldn't qBit only detect one external IP when the VPN is on? Why do the logs show two?Īll my qBit setting are configured correctly, why would qBit show two external IP's? I can't stop thinking about it. Also, logs in qBit show it detects two external IP's, the real IP and the VPN IP, I believe this to be an odd thing. A crash of the VPN client also wouldn't explain why hours later testing revealed the real IP and the VPN IP in the logs as well as on the test site (). Even though I didn't have that adapter setting in qBit set this time the VPN never crashed so it wasn't that. VPN Check will kill whatever app/program it's told the second the connection drops. I have qBit configured to only run on the PIA adapter when it's connected (for some reason this setting was not set correctly this time), this is a redundancy however, since I also use a program called VPN Check which acts as a kill switch in the event my VPN client fails. However, to answer p43b1 yes, I audit all of my security not just for torrents. I switched back to 4.2.3 to test and now I can't replicate it. This to me, is proof that qbittorrent version 4.2.3 圆4 is in fact leaking real ip's even when connected to a VPN. All test that I perform are normal and do not leak my real IP. I rolled back to qbittorrent 4.2.1 圆4 Windows version and the issue is corrected, meaning NO leaks. You should see both IP's one from the VPN and also the real IP being leaked. Using a VPN and qbittorrent 4.2.3 圆4 Windows version, goto and perform the test. The VPN IP is the ONLY IP that should be shown. (Unfortunately, I didn't save the log file.) What is the expected behavior Using TorGuard's "check my torrent ip" page ( ), my real IP is detected along with my VPN IP! Note: I also used which did not detect a leak, only the VPN ip showed.Īlso, I went through qbit's log files and found that my real IP was logged along with my VPN IP. I received a copyright warning today (4/13/20) which prompted me to recheck my security while using qbittorrent and Private Internet Access (PIA). Please provide the following information qBittorrent version and Operating System
